In my opinion this is the "right" way to use social media, I mean we know about companies using it all the time for product support, feedback, etc. but what about building brand loyalty?
Here's my "story"

@ccmehil how about a free Adobe Flex book to help you finish the app before the week ends? Email at agangji@adobe.com
I decided to email, very cautiously and after a couple of emails and a couple of days I am now sitting with a handful of Flex stickers and the "Essential ActionScript 3.0" book from the Adobe Developer Library. It arrived today and is already sitting on my desk and it's been a fight to focus on work before opening it.

Adobe this is the right way to do "social" not because you sent me a book but because you were paying attention and now I know someone at Adobe I can engage with who does "community" as well. It's my day job and frankly I don't do that, but I think I should! "social media" is not the next best thing it's just what we should have been doing already with our customers!

yeah, it's nice I had the same thoughts exactly.
Adobe is on the right track!
On facebook, if you become a fan of adobe students, you can win a adobe cs 3 master collection every day next week :)
Other companies are also scanning e.g. Twitter and reply to you. It already happened for me with Twinkle (iPhone Twitter client) and Zoho.
I have also been quite impressed with Adobe recently, in particular since they open sourced Flex. I've worked with Python for the past 8 years and love the community that has grown around it.
My impression of Adobe Flex is that a very similar community is forming and that is very exciting. Their involvement with Twitter and other social media is yet another step in the right direction.
